True INNOVATION IN NEUROLOGICAL REHABILITATION IN PAEDIATRICS only at the Dzielny Miś Institute: Task Electrostimulation! What is it and how can it improve the effects of your child’s rehab?
Task Electrostimulation is neuromuscular electrostimulation during a specific activity, giving benefits for muscle strength, range of motion and, most importantly, motor learning.
Rehabilitation cycles based on Task Electrostimulation are strongly based on knowledge of our therapists, their experience and in-depth analysis of the patient, and thus individually selected therapies are tailored to the needs and goals of parents and children.
In the United States, we learned about the use of electrostimulation in paediatrics in a banal and innovative way. Months of analysis, many foreign articles, selection of equipment and we have THIS, something that can significantly improve the effects of our / your work.
Task Electrostimulation
Task electrostimulation is a part of physical therapy. It’s key functionality is based on delivering an electric impuls to stimulate or suplement the tissues that have lost their function as a result of neurological damage.
Our rehabilitation cycles are based on functional electrostimulation, known for many years, i.e. muscle and nerve stimulation to cause movement. Functional electrostimulation improves muscle strength and endurance. Therapists of the Dzielny Miś Institute noticed that this well know functional electrostimulation lacks the „key” to success in peadiatrics: the task!
Task electrostimulation is functional electrostimulation during a specific activity, giving benefits to muscle strength, and at the same time giving the possibility of encoding movement by the central nervous system in the appropriate muscle tension of given muscle groups.
How is it possible? Two electrodes placed on the skin, above the target muscle, so that exercises and freedom of movement are possible, special power-generating modules are connected to the electrodes, controlled by Wi-Fi remote controls.
For stimulation, we use electric impuls, which causes muscle contraction and this helps to strengthen it. In addition, the ability to perform movement and specific tasks without restrictions allows you to learn movement in natural environment with appropriate muscle involvement. This allows you to perform isolated tasks as well as global functional movements.
Thanks to task electrostimulation, the stimulated muscles during a specific activity not only strengthen but also learn when to activate themselves.
Benefits of task electrostimulation are the folliwing:
– improvement of muscle strength
– improved range of motion
– the ability to exercise without the constraints of cables
– motor learning (muscle contraction loads the joints in motion, which causes sensory changes conducive to motor learning).
However, it should be remembered that the patient’s knowledge and analysis is the most important part of therapy. It is the therapists of the Działny Miś Institute who are able to determine which muscles need additional stimulation and what specific activities/tasks to perform during it. Therefore, task electrostimulation can be an element of Functional Therapy, significantly increasing the effects of therapy.
